The cemetery of Budy DolneThe cemetery of Budy Dolne is located in a pine forest between the villages and Tokary and Ciechomice. The cemetery is small and is strikingly similar to the little cemetery on the Kępa Osnicka. Both seem to have been private cemeteries. There was no Prayer or School House located in the immediate vicinity as they were usually found next to the cemetery in most Kantorates. I suspect that the original Protestant burial ground of this area was the cemetery of the former Kantorate Ciechomiece in Nowe Ciechomice. As around 1860, many of the German inhabitants of this area emigrated to Volhynia, the Kantorate was abolished. The remaining German residents were Niedrunger, who were living in Tokary, Okopy Tokary and Budy Dolne - in the low-lying area on the Vistula. The cemetery, located at the height of Ciechomice was unfavorably for them. This must have been the reasons why the cemetery in Ciechomice was not used any longer. The Niedrungers used a part of the pine forest, which is in the field of Budy Dolne, for a new, easy-to-reach place of burial. But this is only speculation.
